What’s in an Office Space?

A few months back we packed up the studio and moved a whopping .6 miles south to our new Pasadena home. We’ve taken residence in a few places over the years—all of them pretty cool (if you subtract the undesirable characters, beer smell & eroding walls)—but none were ever designed with our needs in mind, or really “designed” at all. This move gave us the opportunity to really think about what makes an office a place you want to spend 8+ hours a day, a place where creativity can flourish, and one you actually want your clients to visit.

Now I’m a good designer when it comes to things like conceptual thinking or composing the printed page. Space-planning however is a muscle I inherited from my Dad, but have yet to develop. Thankfully Dad, Richard Logan, being a recent retiree had a little time on his hands to devote to making the new office look and function great with smart design, limited budget, lots of sweat… and just a few expletives.

Who better to talk about the process than the designer/builder himself….
